Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin

Connecting with the Land of Israel

Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin  envisioned some ten years ago by Rebbetzin Chana Bracha Siegelbaum has grown right alongside the Yishuv of Bat Ayin. Providing work for families in Bat Ayin as well as “chesed projects” for the community in general are just a couple examples of what Midreshet B’erot has contributed towards the development of Bat Ayin. Most significantly, in addition to providing a flexible, close-to-home source of parnasa (income) for families in Bat Ayin and the Jerusalem area - which is especially appreciated by mothers of young children, Berot also provides learning opportunities for women in the community and greater Gush Etzion and serves as an outlet for women's creative exploration and performances. Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin offers students who are looking for a fresh perspective and spiritual growth the opportunity of a challenging, well-rounded and open-minded Torah education. Our unique learning methods and diverse range of instructors inspire and encourage our students to continuously work on perfecting their character while creating a solid foundation as women in the Torah world.

At Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin students feel at home in the warm, open environment where they learn to integrate Torah learning and values into their daily lives, while deepening their connection to the land of Israel and their role as Jewish women. Our primary goal is to engage the whole student-- mind, body and soul-- through a curriculum that combines challenging academic Torah learning in Tanach, Halacha and Chassidut with innovative classes and workshops for body and soul including creative spiritual expression, and connection with the land of Israel through organic gardening, herbology, Jewish sources of healing and sustainable living.  At Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin we encourage students to express themselves through textual analysis with study-partners, independent study and group discussion, as well as through creative workshops and projects.

Through classes, chevruta and one-on-one mentoring, our students strengthen their Jewish identity and build a positive self-image and character. The different Torah approaches presented by the range of our teachers broaden their perspective. Many of the teachers and staff at Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin are women and serve as powerful role models of living, and building, a Torah life filled with learning and joy.

Our instructors support and facilitate the students’ enthusiasm in deepening, their skills of learning Torah texts with commentaries from traditional and contemporary sources. Tanach, Halacha and classical Jewish texts such as Rashi, Rambam, Yehuda Halevi, and Maharal offer students the tools and information to deepen their Jewish knowledge and strengthen their Emuna. Classes in Jewish mysticism, Chassidism and Jewish meditation are directed at the spiritual thirst so prominent in our times.

A deep connection to the land of Israel is strengthened by regular field trips to historic sites and spending time in our school’s beautiful natural surroundings. We also provide classes to develop skills in growing vegetables, fruits and herbs to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and herbal healing practices.

The peaceful, rural setting of the Village of Bat Ayin nestled in the Judean Hills, with panoramic vistas and rugged mountain ridges, is an ideal atmosphere for exploring your own spiritual roots and building a relationship with the Divine. The learning comes alive as you hike to places described in the Tanach, work the Land of Israel and experience its essential connection to Torah. For more information about Midreshet Bat Ayin, please check out our website at www.berotbatayin.org, email us at info@berotbatayin.org, or outside of Israel call 972-2-993-4945

Comments by our students about Bat Ayin & specifically Rebbetzin Chana Bracha Siegelbaum:
“The Open, warm community in Bat Ayin allowed me to feel comfortable to explore and express my true self.”
“Peaceful life in the hills of Israel, learning and having time to reflect on and absorb serious Torah.”
“I love her original research and new perspective on today's burning questions.”

Her class is deeply inspiring, filled with Torah learning relevant and applicable to our lives, creative, and thought provoking. I particularly enjoy the blend of lecture style learning mixed with artistic reflection and processing.

Her classes are extremely well received by all, from those with little background to those who are products of the day school system.”
